Product Description:
The 178B2124 is an AC drive produced by Danfoss for the FCD 300 Micro Drives series. Classified as an FCD 300 product type, the unit mounts directly on a machine frame and regulates induction motor speed in distributed automation lines. By integrating power electronics, fieldbus communication, and protective sealing in one enclosure, it provides localized motor control for conveyors, mixers, and other motion stages commonly found in processing facilities. Direct machine mounting also reduces the need to route long motor cables from a centralized control cabinet.
This model accepts a three-phase supply of 3 × 380–480 V, allowing connection to common industrial power systems without a step-down transformer. Its continuous mechanical output is rated at 0.37 kW, which corresponds to a shaft capability of 0.50 HP. An IP66 enclosure keeps dust out and withstands high-pressure water jets, allowing the housing to be washed without installation inside a separate cabinet. Communication with higher-level PLCs is handled through Profibus DP V0/V1 at 3 Mbaud, enabling parameter access and status reporting across a twisted-pair network. A detachable display connector permits remote keypad mounting for local setup while keeping the drive electronics sealed against surrounding contaminants.
An integral RFI filter rated for 1 A attenuates conducted emissions, helping the drive meet CE electromagnetic compatibility limits when installed on metal structures. The terminals are housed in a wall-mount box with metric threads, simplifying installation where conduit adapters and cable glands follow metric standards. Extended hardware supports an external 24 V supply, which keeps the control logic active during main power interruptions and maintains fieldbus communication and alarm logging. The drive includes a Processing Application profile, so its default parameter groups support batching, stirring, and dosing duties. A standard factory coating protects the internal printed circuit boards against ambient humidity and airborne residue. The display port also supports transferring settings between identical drives used in the same production area.
