The 178B2124 is a small-sized adjustable speed drive that controls alternating current motors by converting the regular voltage it receives from the mains into variable magnitudes, which are transmitted to the connected motors depending on the necessary operation requirement. This converter features a Variable Vector Control (VVC)system, which measures the motor current continuously and adapts its operation to match the load on the connected motors. This unit is also characterized by an electronic motor protection feature that calculates the motor temperature using the current, frequency and time parameters. High temperature levels are detected and communicated to the operator through the control panel. When multiple motors are connected to a single converter in parallel, the converter loses the ability to provide thermal motor protection in this condition.
The enclosure of the 178B2124 is designed to meet the IP66 protection standard. This level of protection is particularly advantageous for customers who want to use the converter in conditions with a relatively high degree of contamination, like dust and water splashes. The high degree of protection provided for this converter eliminates the need for control cabinets and makes it possible for the unit to be directly integrated at any position where it is needed.
