Product Description:
The 178B1592 is a decentralized AC drive produced by Danfoss for the FCD 300 Micro Drives series. Mounted directly on the machine frame, this wall-box unit controls three-phase induction motors used in conveyor lines and other processing equipment. By converting fixed mains power into variable-frequency output, it allows motor speed and torque to be adjusted without mechanical gear changes. Its decentralized arrangement places motor control close to the driven equipment, reducing the distance required for motor wiring. The compact enclosure is suitable for industrial automation systems that use distributed motor control instead of a centralized drive cabinet.
The drive accepts a three-phase supply of 3 x 380–480 V and delivers an adjustable output frequency of 0.2–132 Hz. Within this operating range, the controller maintains an efficiency of 96%, so only a small portion of the incoming energy is lost as heat. Under rated operating conditions, the input draws 1.9 A, while the inverter supplies a continuous output current of 2.2 A to the connected motor. These current values support the selection of suitable conductors and protective devices for the installation. The broad frequency range allows the drive to operate motors at low speeds or accelerate them for higher-throughput processing without changing the mechanical transmission.
The molded housing has an IP66 rating, protecting internal components from dust and powerful water jets during washdown procedures. Continuous shaft power is limited to 0.75 kW, making the drive suitable for smaller motors used in conveyors and distributed processing equipment. Internal switching components dissipate approximately 40 W while the unit delivers its rated output, so the mounting location must permit heat to escape from the enclosure. An embedded EMC network uses an integral 1 A filter to reduce conducted electrical interference at the machine boundary. The unit also has standard coating, standard hardware, and metric-thread wall-mount terminals that support secure installation and organized cable entry. A display connector provides access to local operating information and parameter controls. The drive has no fieldbus option, so commands and status signals are handled through standalone or hardwired control connections.
