Product Description:
The 178B1580 is a decentralized AC inverter produced by Danfoss within the FCD 300 Micro Drives series. Installed directly on process machinery, it provides localized motor control for conveyors, mixers, and batching stations used in industrial processing applications. Its decentralized installation reduces long motor cable runs and the amount of centralized cabinet wiring required for the connected equipment. A production PLC can send operating commands to the drive for motor speed and torque adjustment at the point of use.
The enclosure has an IP66 rating, allowing the housing to resist dust ingress and high-pressure water jets in hygienic or splash-prone areas. Network traffic is handled by the integrated Profibus DP V0/V1 at 3 Mbaud interface, which supports parameter changes, operating commands, and diagnostic data over the plant fieldbus. The power section accepts a three-phase 380-480 V supply and delivers up to 0.75 kW of electrical output to a compatible induction motor. Electromagnetic interference is reduced by a factory-installed integral 1A filter that suppresses conducted emissions before they reach the supply network. The drive also includes an extended 24 V external supply connection that can keep the control circuitry energized during an interruption of the main power supply. This auxiliary connection can preserve fieldbus communication and control availability when an appropriate external source is connected.
Power and control wiring terminate in a wall-mount box with a metric-threaded connection layout, reducing the need for additional conduit adapters in installations that use metric hardware. A detachable operating display connects through the drive’s display connector, providing direct access to operating values, status information, and parameter menus without opening the sealed enclosure. The display can be removed when local access is unnecessary, leaving the enclosure closed during normal machine operation. A corrosion-resistant coating protects the exterior from moisture and airborne contaminants encountered in processing areas. The sealed housing, external control supply, and accessible display connection support installation in food-processing, chemical-processing, and other washdown applications.
