The 178B1485 is a decentralized variable-frequency drive manufactured by Danfoss and supplied within the FCD 300 Micro Drives series. Mounted directly on or near the motor, it regulates induction-motor speed on processing lines where cabinet space is limited and washdown cleaning is routine. By converting fixed mains power into a modulated output, the unit allows automation systems to adjust motor torque and speed without mechanical throttling. This arrangement simplifies field installations in food, beverage, and other processing applications while reducing the amount of drive equipment required inside a central control cabinet.
An enclosure rating of IP66 seals the housing against dust ingress and powerful water jets, so the drive can be installed in open plant areas without an auxiliary enclosure. Its continuous electrical capacity is 0.75 kW, making it suitable for small pumps, fans, or conveyor motors found on auxiliary skids. The input section accepts a three-phase supply of 380 to 480 V, eliminating the need for step-up transformers on common industrial mains.
