Product Description:
The 178B1396 decentralized drive is produced by Danfoss for the FCD 300 Micro Drives series. Designed for direct mounting on equipment, it converts fixed-frequency three-phase mains power into a variable output for controlling induction motors in processing lines and conveyor systems. The sealed body combines the control electronics, power stage, and fieldbus interface, reducing cabinet wiring and placing the speed regulator close to the motor. This arrangement supports compact installations in dusty production areas and locations that require frequent washdown cleaning.
The enclosure has an IP66 ingress protection rating, protecting internal circuit boards against dust and high-pressure water jets during cleaning cycles. Communication is handled through Profibus DP V0/V1 at 3 Mbaud, allowing the controller to receive setpoints and transmit operating status at consistent bus speeds. The drive has a mechanical power rating of 0.55 kW, which indicates the continuous motor output available under the applicable operating conditions. Its exterior has a standard coating without an additional chemical-resistant layer. A pluggable display connector on the front accepts an optional local keypad for parameter adjustment and alarm viewing without opening the wall-mounted enclosure. Metric-threaded cable glands provide sealed entry points for power, motor, and control wiring.
Electromagnetic compatibility is supported by an integral 1A RFI filter, which attenuates conducted electrical noise on the motor and mains leads. The inverter can provide a motor output of up to 0.75 HP within its conversion capacity. Incoming utility power must remain within the 3 × 380–480 V input range, allowing the drive to operate from common three-phase industrial supplies. The unit includes extended external 24 V support, enabling a separate 24 V source to keep the control logic and fieldbus interface energized when mains power is isolated. Fixed wall-mount terminals and metric-threaded entries help maintain secure electrical connections inside the sealed housing.
