The 131B3552 decentralized variable-frequency drive is assembled by Danfoss within the FCD 300 Micro Drives series. It converts fixed-frequency three-phase power into a controlled output that regulates induction motor speed for compact conveyors, mixers, or pump skids in industrial automation. Mounting the drive directly on the machine frame keeps cable runs short. The unit accepts fieldbus or hardwired references to control acceleration, deceleration, and steady-state speed in production environments where panel space is limited.
A 10.5 V ±0.5 V auxiliary supply powers potentiometers or sensors, and the single analog voltage channel is digitized at 10-bit resolution, providing precise setpoint control. One analog current input, five digital inputs, and two pulse inputs support mixed-signal commands. The transistorized digital output can drive indicators or interposing relays with currents up to 25 mA, while a frequency output reaches 10 kHz for tachometer simulation or counter feedback. High-inertia loads can be released from standstill because the inverter supplies 180% of rated torque for 0.5 seconds. Push-pull references are accepted at frequencies up to 110 kHz, and the drive maintains operation during permitted levels of supply imbalance.
The drive operates without derating at installation altitudes up to 1000 m. Phase voltage variation must remain within ±2.0% to prevent imbalance faults and unstable motor operation. The power section has a fuse short-circuit current rating of 100,000 A, while the upstream circuit breaker rating is limited to 10,000 A for proper coordination. In constant-torque duty, the drive can sustain 160% of rated torque for one minute, providing temporary overload capacity for augers or screw feeders that encounter brief jams. The ambient temperature may reach 40 °C during operation. Separate analog, digital, and pulse inputs allow the drive to receive commands from several types of industrial control devices without requiring an external signal converter.
