The 084B8520 electronic climate controller is produced by Danfoss and belongs to the Electronic Climate Controllers series. As a compact control module, it supervises temperature-regulated refrigeration or HVAC equipment in industrial automation, supporting stable storage and process environments. It serves as the central logic node by receiving sensor feedback, evaluating operating conditions, and transmitting commands through its integrated outputs. The enclosure is designed for DIN-rail installation inside control panels where space is limited. This mounting format also keeps the controller accessible for wiring, configuration, and routine maintenance.
The controller accepts an incoming mains supply of 230 V, allowing direct connection to compatible single-phase supply panels. During operation, it draws only 2.5 VA, which limits its contribution to enclosure heat and power demand. The controller provides four independent relay contacts for discrete control of connected loads such as fans or solenoid valves. It supports staging for up to two compressors, allowing starts to be alternated and operating hours to be balanced between the connected units. The controller also manages one evaporator circuit, keeping defrost and temperature control focused on a dedicated refrigeration load. These operating limits allow the connected equipment to be organized without an external relay expansion module for the available outputs.
System integration is supported by the built-in MODBUS communication port, while an optional LON interface can be fitted for compatibility with older building networks. An onboard alarm output activates when temperature, sensor, or communication faults exceed programmed thresholds, enabling a direct connection to an audible alarm or signal light. The sensor inputs accept NTC-M2020 probes as well as PTC 1000 and Pt 1000 sensing elements, providing compatibility with several common temperature sensor types. This range of supported sensors allows the controller to receive temperature data from different refrigeration and HVAC arrangements. The housing weighs 0.26 kg, so it places little mechanical load on the DIN rail when installed in a compact enclosure. Its low mass also makes the unit easier to position while conductors and communication lines are routed within the panel.
