Product Description:
The 084B8012 is a Danfoss electronic climate controller supplied within the Electronic Climate Controllers series. Designed as a pack controller, it coordinates compressor staging, condenser pressure regulation, and fan modulation in medium to large refrigeration or HVAC racks used in automated plant environments. The unit operates from a 24 V AC supply and can be mounted on a standard DIN rail or directly on a wall, giving panel builders installation flexibility without requiring additional brackets or power conversion components.
Field connectivity is provided through a built-in communication stack that supports Ethernet, LON, and Modbus communication, so supervisory systems can retrieve temperatures, setpoints, and alarms in real time without protocol converters. Compressor staging uses a step capacity mode, enabling the controller to energize successive compressors in fixed increments that match load demand and help prevent short cycling. Condenser regulation supports pressure or temperature control, allowing the controller to use the type of sensor already installed at the site. The controller provides 10 digital outputs through relay terminals that switch solenoids, contactors, or alarm beacons directly from the logic board. The housing has an IP20 rating, so the controller must be installed inside a protective panel and is not intended for direct exposure to water or excessive dust.
For air-side equipment, the controller operates fans through a step or speed control strategy, allowing either discrete on-and-off stages or variable-speed outputs to be selected for the application. It is compatible with mains frequencies of 50/60 Hz and can manage up to four condenser fans simultaneously, adjusting airflow in response to changing ambient conditions and refrigeration demand. Total power consumption is limited to 8 VA, which reduces heat accumulation inside crowded control panels and preserves capacity on the 24 V control transformer for connected sensors and safety circuits.
