Product Description:

The MCD 200 Compact Starter from Danfoss ensures consistent performance in a demanding environment and it can withstand sudden voltage sags, momentary power interruptions and challenging environmental factors. This module demonstrates careful consideration of thermal limits, electrical resilience and follows strict electromagnetic and safety standards.

The MCD 200 compact starter can work continuously in dampness ranging anywhere from a very dry five percent to ninety five percent of relative humidity. It has a normally open contact through an N1 terminal that can handle a ceiling of 300 VAC. It is able to endure 4 kVA discharges by touch and up to 8 kVA when discharged through the air. It has a normally closed terminal that operates in the opposite manner and can withstand up to 200 volts alternating current. When it is energized its supply cycle should have a frequency between 45 to 66 Hz. It resists radio disturbances across 0.15 mHz to 1 GHz up to 140 db MV. It also contains normally open output terminals that can switch resistive loads of 6 A at both 30 volts DC and 250 volts AC. It is capable of tolerating sudden transient bursts of 2 kilo volts from line to ground and 1 kilo volts between lines for 5/50 nanoseconds.

This MCD 200 compact starter withstands sinusoidal oscillations between 4 hertz and 13.2 hertz and it complies with IEC 60068 Test Fc. It can function on alternating current ranging between 110–240 volts and 380–440 volts. Its noise remains under 56 to 46 decibels during its frequency from 0.15 and 0.5 mega hertz. It can be stored in an environment where temperature falls from –25 to +60 °C and even up to 70 centigrade.

Frequently Asked Questions about MCD 200:

Q: How does the MCD 200 handle short voltage dips during operation?

A: It maintains motor control for up to 100 ms even if supply voltage drops significantly. This prevents nuisance tripping in weak or unstable grids.

Q: Can the MCD 200 be installed in areas with high dust or pollution levels?

A: Yes, it is designed for environments where conductive dust or moisture may be present. Additional enclosure protection may be needed in extreme industrial settings.

Q: What impact does its Class B EMC rating have on nearby equipment?

A: Class B compliance ensures minimal electromagnetic interference with residential or light industrial devices. This makes it safe for mixed environments with sensitive electronics.

Q: How does the programmable relay benefit system integration?

A: The relay can be configured to signal events like “Run” or “Trip.” This simplifies integration into monitoring systems or external alarms.

Q: What considerations are needed for storing the MCD 200 in varying climates?

A: It tolerates extended storage in sub-zero and elevated temperatures. However, condensation control is necessary to prevent internal corrosion when returned to service.

Internal Product Review

  • ‘‘The Danfoss MCD 200 Compact Starter is a rugged soft starter designed for reliable motor control. It endures 100 ms voltage dips down to 40% nominal voltage, supports a user-programmable relay output (“Trip” or “Run”), and operates from –10°C to +60°C. It’s widely used in applications such as pumps, fans, compressors, mixers, and conveyors.’’
