Product Description:
The 084B4057 controller is produced by Danfoss within the AK-CC55 Case Controllers series and is intended for supervisory regulation of refrigerated display or storage cases in automated food retail installations. Acting as a dedicated case controller, it processes temperature, defrost, fan, and light commands to maintain stable product conditions while interfacing with higher-level building management systems. In industrial automation applications, it combines sensing, local logic, and relay actuation in a single DIN-rail module that replaces discrete thermostats and time clocks.
Six analog inputs accept probe signals for case temperature, suction line temperature, and defrost termination, while three digital inputs monitor door or alarm contacts. Nine application switches allow parameter selection without software. The controller powers electronic expansion valves through an AK-V output rated at a maximum of 0.5 A, delivering up to 1 × 20 W at maximum output when supplied by 115 V AC or 2 × 20 W at maximum output when supplied by 230 V AC. Relay contacts tolerate compressor inrush currents up to a TV-5 surge rating of 80 A. They can also drive inductive motors rated at up to 3 FLA and 18 LRA, allowing the unit to start small evaporator fans or solenoids directly.
The six digital outputs handle defrost heaters, lights, and fan circuits with a resistive capacity of 8 A per pole. The control logic remains reliable down to a minimum relay load of 1 VA, allowing the outputs to operate low-power signaling devices. Field installation is simplified by DIN-rail mounting and a pluggable communication slot that accepts the AK-OB55 Lon option, enabling LonWorks networking for coordination among multiple refrigerated cases. The onboard real-time clock works with the available switches and input/output resources to run time-based defrost cycles without assistance from an external PLC. It also supports energy-saving night setbacks according to the programmed operating schedule.
