Product Description:
The PRO-16 is a temperature controller produced by Danaher within the Thermal Controllers series. Designed for panel mounting in automated machinery, it receives thermocouple, RTD, current, and voltage signals, processes them digitally, and energizes relays or solid-state outputs to keep process temperatures within user-defined limits. In heating, cooling, or mixed loops, the unit maintains stable conditions while its protected fascia allows installation on exposed operator stations.
A sealed keypad and display provide IP65 front protection, so washdown fluids and dust do not compromise operation. The analog section converts sensor levels with an input resolution above 14 bits, which reduces quantization error during closed-loop calculations, and the overall linear output error remains within 0.2% of span. Each measurement channel is scanned every 100 ms, providing responsive correction without excessive relay cycling. The electromechanical contacts are rated at 2 A at 250 V for pilot-duty valves or contactors. Thermocouple sources have an impedance of 1 MΩ and a cold-junction inaccuracy below 0.5 K, while RTD excitation current is limited to 1 µA or less. Lead resistance may reach 30 Ω before compensation is affected. Current and voltage input resistances of 49 Ω and 110 kΩ, respectively, accommodate typical transmitter outputs, and linear control signals can be forwarded through the isolated driver.
Up to 32 controllers may be addressed on a single serial bus, allowing multiple zones in ovens or environmental chambers to share one HMI. Recipe logic is stored in nonvolatile EEPROM with a capacity of 16 × 16 segments, allowing the controller to retain programmed sequences when power is removed. The controller executes time-temperature ramps whose shortest dwell or slope interval is 20 ms. For time-proportional actuation, the solid-state relay port supplies 10 V into a minimum load of 500 Ω, providing direct drive for compatible SSR modules. The serial connection reduces the number of separate communication links required in installations with multiple temperature zones.
