Product Description:
The P6700 limit controller is produced by Danaher as part of the Thermal Controllers series. It supervises a single temperature loop and de-energizes its safety relay when the process exceeds an operator-defined cutoff, protecting both heaters and products. Because it mounts in standardized instrumentation openings, the unit can be added to ovens, dryers, or environmental chambers without redesigning the control cabinet. The controller provides an independent shutdown function for equipment that requires protection from excessive process temperatures.
Physically, the instrument follows the 1/16 DIN format, so its front bezel measures 48 × 48 mm and fits through a 45 × 45 mm panel cutout. Only 110 mm of depth is required behind the mounting plate, allowing placement in shallow enclosures alongside PLC I/O cards. Once installed, the molded face has an IP66 rating that protects against dust ingress and high-pressure water jets encountered during washdown maintenance. Overall mass is limited to a maximum of 0.21 kg, so the controller does not place a significant load on lightweight sheet-metal doors or swing-out arm assemblies. Its compact dimensions also leave room for wiring terminals and adjacent control devices within the enclosure.
The voltage analog channel presents an impedance of 47 kΩ, while the 20 mA current-loop terminal has an impedance of only 5 Ω, keeping signal loading predictable. Inputs are digitized at 4 samples/s, providing a prompt response to temperature drift while filtering brief disturbances that do not threaten the equipment. When a programmed limit is crossed, the internal relay can switch 5 A and operates in a latching configuration. Once tripped, the relay remains in that state until an operator performs a reset, providing a clear fail-safe response. The electrical design supports direct connections to sensors and safety circuits without requiring a separate signal converter. Installation Category II permits connection to protected secondary circuits inside a control panel.
