The P6170 is a temperature controller produced by Danaher for the Thermal Controllers series. It is intended for closed-loop regulation of heating or cooling elements in industrial automation, where maintaining a programmed set point is critical to product quality and energy efficiency. The device mounts in a control panel and interfaces with sensors and final control elements to drive the process toward thermal equilibrium.
This model applies a three-point stepping VMD control strategy, so the internal algorithm can modulate valves or contactors in incremental steps rather than through simple on-off action. The housing conforms to the 1/16 DIN format and presents a 48 × 48 mm bezel, allowing it to fit panels that follow standard instrumentation grids; a 45 × 45 mm panel cutout is required. Behind the fascia, a depth of 110 mm accommodates the plug-in fixing strap that secures the unit while leaving clearance for wiring. The front face carries an IP66 rating, meaning dust or direct water jets will not compromise operation when the panel gasket is correctly compressed. One loop alarm and two process alarms can be assigned to temperature deviations, and the terminals accept screw connections for solid or stranded conductors.
