The EA790-10100 rotary limit switch is manufactured by Danaher and belongs to the Snaplock Limit Switches series. This device mounts on machine shafts to translate angular motion into discrete electrical signals that start, stop, or interlock automated equipment at selected travel points. It serves as a position feedback element in conveyor lines, indexing tables, and valve actuators, allowing control systems to enforce safe mechanical limits.
Actuation is achieved through cam action, allowing the internal cam stack to engage the mechanism during either clockwise or counterclockwise rotation. The switch has one normally open and one normally closed butt contact that provide make-and-break operation on a single switching stage. The switch requires 15 in-lb of operating torque, which permits direct coupling to moderate-size drive shafts. It operates at temperatures from -20 °C to +90 °C, and its housing is cast from bronze to resist wear and corrosion. The lever position can be indexed in 7° 30′ increments throughout the entire 360° circle, providing flexibility when setting actuation points. Conduit entry is provided by a 3/4-14 NPT pipe tap. Four 1/4-20 threaded mounting holes, each 0.38 inches deep, anchor the enclosure securely to a panel.
The switching circuit uses a single-pole configuration linked directly to the output shaft. The mechanism permits a full mechanical span of 90°, while contact engagement occurs at specific points within that range. The switch trips at 18° and resets at 14°, separating the command and release positions to prevent overlap between run and stop states. Standard application movement is limited to 30°, keeping normal shaft travel within the intended operating range. The cam interface maintains consistent timing after repeated index adjustments, helping the contact stack remain within its mechanical clearances during operation.
