The EA780-20100 is a rotary limit switch produced by Danaher as part of the Snaplock Limit Switches series. Used in industrial automation, it establishes angular endpoints for machine elements and provides electrical feedback so controllers can stop, reverse, or sequence motion when a preset position is reached. The housing contains a cam-driven mechanism that converts shaft rotation into discrete electrical changeovers. When installed on a drive shaft, the unit provides repeatable position signaling without requiring external sensors.
Inside the switch, the actuation mechanism uses cam action, meaning a profiled cam lifts or releases the contact carrier as the shaft turns. Shaft motion can be clockwise or counterclockwise to suit the mounting orientation, and a lever adjustment range of 7°30' allows the actuation point to be adjusted relative to the keyway. The contact stack is wired as 2NO / 2NC in a Form Z arrangement, providing make and break paths across a double-pole architecture. During actuation, the drive must overcome 27 lb-in of overall torque produced by cam friction. Once tripped, the mechanism remains latched until the shaft exceeds the recommended rotation of 30°, with the switching event occurring after 18° of shaft movement.

Reset occurs after the shaft returns by 14°, providing predictable clearance before the next operating cycle. The full mechanical span is 90°, providing sufficient range for positioning multiple cams in complex motion sequences without exceeding the structural limits of the mechanism.
