The EA70020100 rotary limit switch is manufactured by Danaher as part of the Snaplock Limit Switches series. Its zinc housing supports a 1-1/2 NPT conduit entry, enabling direct connection to rigid metallic conduit used in industrial control wiring. Designed for angular monitoring of shafts or cams, the device responds to clockwise or counterclockwise rotation and installs with the series’ standard mounting style. Within an automated line, it serves as a mechanical feedback element that issues discrete position signals to upstream controllers.
The switching module carries a contact arrangement of 2NO/2NC wired in Form Z, so two normally open and two normally closed paths change state simultaneously at each actuation point. Silver alloy tips on the butt-style contacts provide high conductivity and resist arc erosion during repetitive cycling. The drive shaft must overcome 27 lb-in of overall torque to trigger the over-center mechanism, helping the cams move decisively through their snap action. An enclosure rating of NEMA 1/4/13 allows placement in general-purpose, watertight, or oil-tight panels without additional guards. With a maximum rotation span of 90°, the switch can be cammed to deliver two independent outputs anywhere within the full quadrant of motion.
Fine calibration is handled through the lever hub, which accepts cam spacing in 7° 30′ increments to match specific machine positions. This adjustment interval allows the actuation points to be aligned with the angular positions required by the machine sequence. For applications using progressive indexing, a recommended working stroke of 30° keeps the detector within the linear travel portion of the cam profile. The internal spring returns the mechanism after only 14° of reset travel, preparing the contacts for the next cycle. Tripping occurs at 18°, creating a distinct margin between signal generation and reset that prevents contact chatter during slow movements.
