Product Description:

The EA700-86000 limit switch is produced by Danaher for the Snaplock Limit Switches series. This mechanical device uses a cam-driven lever to translate rotary motion from a machine shaft into discrete electrical signals. Installed on conveyors, hoists, or valve actuators, it establishes end-of-travel points and maintains the circuit state once the lever has passed its snap position. This operation gives programmable controllers a secure indication of the machine’s actual position.

Electrical performance includes a continuous rating of 125 V AC at 20 A, allowing the switch to carry motor-starter or solenoid currents without welding the contacts. Its 125 V DC capacity of 5 A supports low-voltage braking or interlock circuits. The double-break contact geometry has a 2NO/2NC arrangement, so two independent normally open paths and two independent normally closed paths change state simultaneously. Counterclockwise actuation requires only 12 lb-in of torque before the mechanism snaps, and the lever trips after 25° of shaft rotation, reducing the required panel space when a short cam throw is available. The maintained contact action keeps the electrical state fixed until the lever returns past the reset point.

During clockwise rotation, the lever snaps with only 6 lb-in of torque but does not change state until 55° of shaft rotation has elapsed. This operating profile supports staggered signaling on multi-turn shafts. The cam should overtravel to the manufacturer’s recommended 60° position so the mechanism latches fully and contact pressure remains uniform. The die-cast housing is made of zinc to withstand vibration and moderate impact, while a 1-11 1/2 NPT pipe tap simplifies conduit entry. The lever angle can be adjusted in increments of 7°30′ to accommodate different cam positions. Its long mounting style aligns with standard bracket patterns used on process equipment.
