The EA700-85102 is a snap-acting limit switch produced by Danaher within the Snaplock Limit Switches series. It serves as a position feedback device that converts mechanical motion from machine cams or levers into discrete electrical signals for interlocks, sequencing, or safety shutdowns in automated equipment. The unit uses cam-action actuation, so the contacts transition rapidly once the shaft reaches its trip point, minimizing arcing and contact wear during repeated operation.
Counterclockwise rotation requires an operating torque of 20.5 lb-in, while clockwise rotation requires 16.5 lb-in; a machine cam must provide the appropriate torque to actuate the switch in each direction. After operation, the shaft must return through 12° counterclockwise or 22° clockwise before the contacts reset, preventing chatter during small reversals. The switching event occurs when shaft travel reaches 31° from the neutral position, allowing the electrical signal to remain synchronized with the mechanical motion of conveyors, indexing tables, or packaging equipment.
For applications that require a wider motion envelope, the recommended overtravel is 45°, and the mechanism permits a full mechanical sweep of 90° without damage. Internally, a double-pole contact block wired in Form Z provides two electrically isolated circuits that change state when the cam crosses the trip angle. All contacts use a butt-style design and remain open while the shaft is in the neutral position. The enclosure has a rating of Types 1, 4, and 13, supporting use in general-purpose, washdown, or oil-splash areas when the zinc housing is mounted on the long-style base. Bidirectional operation allows the switch to monitor both clockwise and counterclockwise machine strokes without requiring separate switching hardware.
