The EA700-56700 is a rotary Snaplock limit switch manufactured by Danaher for use in the Snaplock Limit Switches series. As an industrial automation component, it translates lever rotation into discrete electrical signals that inform controllers when a mechanism reaches a prescribed angular position. The maintained-contact action holds the circuit state until the lever is returned, allowing reliable interlock, sequencing, or safety shutdown functions in conveyor, press, and material-handling stations.
The switch carries two normally open and two normally closed contacts; the 2NO/2NC arrangement allows simultaneous make-and-break circuits to be wired without external relays. Each contact uses a silver-alloy wiping surface to keep resistance low during repeated operation. The rated carry current reaches 20 A at 125 VAC, so the device can switch motor starters or solenoid valves directly. Field wiring passes through a 1-11.5 NPT conduit entry that accommodates standard rigid metal conduit. Mechanical calibration calls for a recommended lever travel of 45°, ensuring consistent snap action before the maintained detent engages. The maintained contacts preserve positive circuit feedback after the lever reaches the target angle and remain in that state until the lever returns.
For full-stroke applications, the lever can move through a maximum of 90° without damaging the internal cam stack. Counterclockwise actuation requires up to 16.5 lb-in of torque and trips the contacts after 16° of travel, while clockwise motion requires 15 lb-in and trips them after 30°. Separate cam profiles establish minimum maintain and reset angles of 26° and 30° for each direction, preventing premature reset when vibration is present. A wide mounting base provides extra screw spacing for secure attachment across a broad range of mounting-hole patterns. The available travel beyond the recommended setting provides additional overtravel tolerance for mechanisms that cannot stop immediately after actuation.
