Product Description:
The EA700-55108 is a mechanical limit switch manufactured by Danaher within the Snaplock Limit Switches series. This switch provides snap-action position feedback to machine controls, shutting down or reversing motion when a preset angle is reached. Used on indexing tables, actuators, and conveying equipment, it converts shaft rotation into discrete electrical signals that a PLC or relay ladder can interpret as end-of-travel or overtravel conditions.
An enclosure rated at NEMA 1, 4, and 13 shields the internal mechanism from dust, splashing water, and oil, allowing direct installation on factory floors. Its contacts are made of silver alloy, a material chosen for low resistance and a long cycle life with control-level currents. Counterclockwise rotation must overcome 20.5 in-lb of torque, while clockwise motion has a lighter threshold of 16.5 in-lb. These opposing values allow return springs to be balanced against the preferred operating direction. A recommended lever displacement of 45° ensures that the cam fully actuates the double-pole Form Z contact stack without bottoming out against the stop, which helps prevent premature wear.
Once tripped, the lever must reverse through 12° counterclockwise or 22° clockwise before the contacts reset, providing clear hysteresis that helps prevent chatter in vibrating machinery. The unit remains functional from -20 °C to +90 °C, covering most indoor and many semiprotected outdoor installations. Its total angular capability is 90°, so cams can be profiled for multistep sequences before reaching a hard stop. The lever can be adjusted in 7°30′ increments through 360°, enabling precise alignment with mechanical stops. The internal geometry supports a trip travel of 31°, and the neutral state keeps all double poles closed until movement begins. A wide mounting configuration simplifies installation, while the zinc housing resists corrosion in industrial environments.
