The EA700-55000 rotary limit switch is manufactured by Danaher and belongs to the Snaplock Limit Switches series. It is intended for position-sensing duties in automated machinery, where cam-driven actuation opens or closes isolated circuits to signal end-of-stroke or overtravel events. The unit’s cam-action mechanism drives paired contact blocks, translating mechanical movement into reliable electrical feedback without requiring external power conversion. This operating method allows the switch to monitor moving machine components and communicate when they reach predetermined positions.
The switch can interrupt motor starters or solenoid feeds carrying up to 20 A at 125 VAC. It can also handle low-energy control loops carrying up to 5 A at 125 VDC. Operation is certified across an ambient temperature range of −20 °C to +90 °C, supporting cold-room handling lines and high-temperature process zones. Its die-cast enclosure has a NEMA Type 1, 4, and 13 rating, providing resistance to airborne dust, splashing water, and oil from lubricated machinery. Rotary motion must overcome an actuating torque of 19.5 lb-in clockwise and 15 lb-in counterclockwise, producing a distinct snap action that minimizes contact chatter. Internally, Form Z switching with butt-type silver-alloy contacts provides simultaneous make-and-break behavior. The neutral state leaves all circuits open until the target cam engages the operator lever.
The permitted total shaft deflection is 90°, providing a controlled range for rotary actuation. Within that span, the recommended working arc is 45° to support consistent wiping action and contact life. The device has a double-pole arrangement with four normally open contacts, allowing isolated circuits to be used for interlocking or indication duties. A rugged zinc housing supports the wide mounting configuration and protects the internal switching components. Adjustable cams permit trip angles of 11° clockwise and 35° counterclockwise, with corresponding reset angles of 9° and 13°. These adjustable mechanical set points allow the switch response to match precise stroke limits without auxiliary brackets or linkages.
