The EA700-50000 rotary limit switch is manufactured by Danaher within the Snaplock Limit Switches series. It is installed on rotating shafts to signal when predetermined angles are reached, enabling coordinated stopping, reversing, or sequencing of industrial equipment. By translating angular motion into discrete electrical outputs, the device serves as a safety and position feedback element in conveyor lines, hoists, and indexing machinery.
Internally, the switch carries a DPDT circuit configuration that provides two independent changeover poles for flexible control wiring. Those poles are arranged as 2NO/2NC contacts in a Form Z pattern, providing simultaneous break-before-make action on both poles. With silver-alloy butt contacts, the unit can conduct up to 20 A of alternating current at 125 V, while direct-current operation at the same voltage is limited to 5 A. These electrical limits allow the mechanism to operate motor starters, indicator lamps, or PLC input modules without external relays. The cam stack has an overall operating torque limited to 27 in-lb, allowing it to be coupled to light shafts or chain drives without overloading them. A zinc housing shields the contact block, and the wide mounting style aligns the base with common machine frames.
Angular displacement is adjusted using four cam screws. The recommended operating travel is 30°, providing adequate overtravel to ensure snap action, while the mechanism trips after 18° and resets when the cam returns 14°. The full cam window extends to 90°, supporting multistep sequences when additional contacts are installed. Clockwise operation is standard, and the base includes a 1-inch NPT conduit opening with a 1-11 1/2 NPT thread for rigid metallic tubing. This conduit arrangement helps keep dust and coolant spray away from the contact block during repeated machine operation.
