The EA700-10100 is a snap-action limit switch produced by Danaher within the Snaplock Limit Switches series. Designed for rotary actuation, it installs at the end of a shaft or cam so that a specified angular movement sends a discrete electrical signal to a PLC or relay panel. By converting mechanical rotation into an on/off contact change, the device confirms position, governs sequencing, or enforces safety interlocks in automated material-handling and machine-tool systems. Its snap-action mechanism changes the contact state rapidly once the shaft reaches the operating point, reducing the time that the contacts remain between states.
The switch can interrupt or establish an AC load of 20 A at 125 V, while its DC capability at the same voltage is limited to 5 A; the lower direct-current rating reflects the longer arc duration across the silver-alloy contacts. A driving torque of only 15 lb-in. is needed to trip the over-center mechanism, allowing small cams to operate the shaft. Electrical connection is made through a 1-11 1⁄2 NPT conduit entry that mates with standard rigid or flexible metallic conduit. Internally, a single-pole, double-throw architecture provides an SPDT output, giving one normally open circuit and one normally closed circuit that toggle simultaneously when the cam crosses its operating point.
The angular motion limits determine how the switch should be set up. Normal operation uses a recommended cam sweep of 30°; passing through this angle ensures snap action without overstressing the spring stack. After tripping, the shaft must return only 14° to reset, minimizing lost motion in cyclic equipment. Initial contact change occurs at a precise 18° from the free position, while mechanical stops permit a full travel of 90° for applications requiring wide overtravel. The switch supports bidirectional clockwise and counterclockwise actuation and accepts B1/B2 cams. It uses a zinc housing, a standard mounting style, and silver-alloy contacts for repetitive industrial indexing tasks.
