Danaher manufactures the EA170-35100 as part of its Snaplock Limit Switches series. This mechanical position detector is intended for industrial automation tasks such as end-of-stroke sensing, door interlocks, and overtravel protection. By translating a small angular movement of its lever into an electrical signal, the switch allows a controller to confirm that a mechanism has reached the required position before the next sequence step begins.
The long mounting base holds a contact assembly rated at 2 NO / 2 NC, allowing the switch to open or close two circuits when it reaches the setpoint. These contacts follow Form Z wiring, use silver-alloy surfaces for consistent conductivity, and operate counterclockwise in accordance with the specified CCW direction. The die-cast enclosure is rated for NEMA 1, 4, 13, providing resistance to dust, dripping water, and coolant splashes encountered on production lines. The required actuation force corresponds to an operating torque of 32 lb-in. Travel stops allow the lever to rotate through a full span of 36°, while the contacts transition after only 6° 30′ of movement. This short actuation angle minimizes cam wear and reduces the movement needed to trigger the mechanism.
The lever can be indexed in 7° 30′ increments, allowing the actuation point to be positioned precisely relative to a moving cam while remaining within the preferred operating window of 7°. After actuation, the spring mechanism returns the rocker through a reset distance of 4° before the contacts relatch, helping prevent chatter on vibrating equipment. The internal linkage uses a rocker-type mechanism, so a small external movement flips a balanced cradle that snaps the contacts cleanly between states. The short-travel arrangement and long mounting style permit installation beside conveyors, slides, or indexing tables where available space is limited and repeatable switching is required.
