The EA170-31100 is a mechanical limit switch engineered by Danaher within the Snaplock Limit Switches series. Using a rocker-type actuator, the unit toggles when the operating head is driven clockwise, and its Form Z contact arrangement ensures that one circuit is broken while another is made. Inside the zinc-aluminum housing, the switch carries a silver-alloy contact set with two normally open and two normally closed paths, allowing position feedback or safety interlocking in industrial automation systems.
The contact configuration is 2 NO / 2 NC, so two channels can provide redundant status while the other two can interrupt power to a driven load. For motor branch control, the device supports 20 A at 125 VAC, while its NEMA 1, 4, and 13 enclosure ratings indicate protection against dust, splashing fluids, and oil. An operating torque of 23 in-lb must be applied to reach the recommended travel point of 13°, while the snap mechanism trips after 10° of movement for repeatable actuation. The difference between the trip point and recommended travel provides controlled movement after the contacts change state.
