The EA170-11100 rotary limit switch is supplied by Danaher within the Snaplock Limit Switches series. Designed as a position-sensing component for machinery, it translates a specified angular movement of an external shaft into discrete electrical signals that can interrupt, enable, or interlock motion sequences. The unit employs a snap-acting mechanism so the contacts change state rapidly, minimizing arcing and providing reliable feedback to controllers in conveyor lines, indexing tables, and packaging equipment.
Mechanical integration is centered on a housing that accepts a 1-11.5 NPT conduit entry for sealed wiring. The lever arm can be repositioned in increments of 7° 30′ to align the cam with the application geometry, and the lever rotates clockwise. Two threaded mounting bosses with 5/16-18NC threads are provided to a depth of 0.56 in. The mounting plate measures 6.58 in long by 2.25 in wide, allowing it to fit standard brackets with the standard mounting style. Actuation requires 23 in-lb of torque to trip the switch, and 13° of travel is recommended to ensure contact transfer without overstressing the mechanism.
Internally, a four-pole contact block offers a 2 NO / 2 NC arrangement based on Form Z architecture, providing two normally open and two normally closed paths that operate simultaneously. The switching elements employ silver-alloy tips to reduce electrical resistance and heat buildup under load. The mechanism trips after 10° of travel and permits up to 37° of total travel without damaging the spring or stop assembly. A reset travel of 8° moves the lever back across the over-center point, allowing the latch to reengage before the next operating cycle. The snap spring maintains uniform contact-gap timing despite variations in the applied load.
