The EA080-23100 is a rotary limit switch manufactured by Danaher for the Snaplock Limit Switches series. Installed at travel endpoints or index points, the device converts a set amount of shaft rotation into a discrete electrical signal. This signal allows PLCs or relay panels in industrial automation systems to confirm position, initiate sequential steps, or stop motion safely. Its compact body mounts close to cams or gearboxes, making it useful on conveyors, hoists, and processing equipment that must detect angular displacement with minimal linkage and backlash.
Internally, the switch carries a 1NO/1NC contact arrangement built on a single-pole, double-throw SPDT mechanism, providing normally open and normally closed outputs from one actuator. The contacts use a Form Z configuration with butt contacts that close face-to-face, while the silver-alloy tips keep electrical resistance low. At 125 VAC, the assembly handles 20 A, while resistive circuits at 125 VDC are limited to 5 A because direct-current arcs persist longer. A die-cast zinc housing shields the mechanism from impact and helps dissipate heat. The front shaft simplifies coupling to cams, and the maintained-position mechanism has no return spring, so the lever remains in its tripped position until it is driven back.
The enclosure has an epoxy seal and an integral cable, providing protection from contaminants while reducing the number of external junction points. Terminals accept conductors up to 12 AWG, making them compatible with commonly used motor-control wiring. During setup, the lever can be indexed in 7°30′ increments across a total span of 167°, allowing actuation to be aligned precisely with the machine cycle. Functional travel occurs when the cam moves through a 10° trip window, and this narrow range helps minimize overtravel forces. Standard mounting slots accommodate common brackets, while the mass of the die-cast body helps the selected adjustment remain stable under vibration.
