The SS242LG5 is Danaher synchronous motor built specifically to meet the kinetic energy demands of production and processing machines in harsh environmental conditions. This synchronous motor unit has a thick housing unit made from stainless steel material; this housing is able to easily withstand dust, water, and even large foreign solids with little problem. During operation, this motor maintains a gear ratio of 5:1; its average operation speed is about 14.4 revolutions per minute. The SS242LG5 synchronous motor is compatible with single-phase and three-phase operation. During single-phase operation, the input voltage requirement for the motor is approximately 240 volts, while the input current is 0.2 amperes. However, when the converter is in a three phase system, its input current requirement is 208 volts. The SS242LG5 is intended to be supplied with Alternating Current (AC); the supply input voltage should be delivered at a frequency range of between 50 to about 60 hertz.

The SS242LG5 synchronous motor does not feature an internal air blower; it does not produce extreme heat and is able to maintain cool operation through the combination of radiation from its housing, natural convection and even conduction into its installation frame. This motor unit has a smooth output shaft that transmits torque at an efficiency level as high as 95 per cent.

The SS242LG5 has a total weight of about 5.07 pounds, it is intended for indoor application. Despite its high protection category, this motor is not waterproof and should not be immersed in water. Ambient temperature levels around the motor should be maintained below 40 degrees to prevent the overheating of the motor unit.
