The X1100-2002U is a stepping synchronous motor built by Danaher for the Slo-Syn Synchronous Motors series. In automated conveyors, indexing tables, and metering pumps, the unit advances mechanical loads in fixed angular increments that remain synchronized with the line frequency, removing the need for complex feedback devices. By supplying constant torque at low speed, it provides repeatable positioning for material-handling and light-machining cells that require simple open-loop motion control.
The motor connects to a single-phase source at 120 V and 60 Hz, drawing a line current of 3 A during rated operation. A 17.5 µF phase-shifting capacitor rated for 330 VAC is connected in series with the auxiliary winding so the stator fields remain 90 degrees apart and synchronous torque is maintained. The nominal shaft speed is 72 rpm, which results from the supply frequency and the 50-pole rotor design. Minimum pull-out torque is 1,100 oz-in, enabling the motor to drive gear-free turntables or lead screws that demand high holding force. The capacitor supports reliable starting and helps the rotor synchronize with the rotating stator field.
Continuous service is permitted at ambient temperatures up to 40 °C, provided the aluminum case temperature does not exceed 100 °C. The shaft tolerates axial loading up to 100 lb and radial loading up to 50 lb, accommodating belt tension or thrust couplings without additional bearings. Connected mechanisms should present no more than 9 lb-in² of reflected inertia so the rotor can lock into step without overshoot. A braking resistor rated at 100 Ω and capable of dissipating 160 W can be connected to the winding circuit to absorb regenerated energy during rapid deceleration.
