The SS702E is a single-phase synchronous stepping motor produced by Danaher within the Slo-Syn Synchronous Motors series. Designed for positioning or low-speed rotation in conveyors, indexing tables, and metering pumps, the motor maintains a constant speed when driven directly from the mains, removing the need for an external drive. Its construction includes a rear shaft extension for coupling to an encoder or handwheel and a front shaft suited for keyed hubs. The combination of internal reluctance and permanent-magnet fields provides the start-and-stop repeatability required in industrial automation.
The motor draws a line current of 0.55 A when connected to a nominal 240 VAC single-phase power supply. Under that electrical input, it produces a minimum torque of 700 oz-in, providing sufficient torque margin for indexing applications. With its fixed 20-pole geometry, the rotor turns at 60 rpm on a 50 Hz network and reaches 72 rpm on a 60 Hz network, allowing the supply frequency to determine operating speed. A reflected inertia of 0.42 oz-in-s² at 60 Hz supports controlled acceleration without excessive overshoot.
