The SS700E is a permanent-magnet stepping motor manufactured by Danaher in the Slo-Syn Synchronous Motors series. It functions as an open-loop drive element that indexes machine axes at a fixed position increment during each half-cycle of the mains supply, making it practical for conveyors, feed screws, and timing wheels in industrial automation environments. It operates as a synchronous unit that locks its rotor to the applied line frequency, so motion accuracy depends on power-line stability rather than encoder feedback. This operating characteristic simplifies control circuits in packaging, printing, and material-handling equipment.
With a rated supply of 120 VAC, the single-phase winding draws 1.1 A from a 60-hertz mains source. A split-phase network consisting of a 12.5 µF run capacitor and a 150 Ω series resistor establishes the quadrature phase shift required for synchronous locking. Under these conditions, the motor develops a minimum holding torque of 700 oz-in while maintaining a shaft speed of 72 rpm. The 0.42 oz-in-s² load inertia value indicates how much rotating mass can be driven without losing step alignment.
