Product Description:
The SS700-1113BU is a constant-speed AC synchronous stepping motor produced by Danaher within the Slo-Syn Synchronous Motors series. The motor generates indexed, stall-free rotation that can drive conveyors, metering pumps, or timing shafts without closed-loop feedback. It operates from single-phase utility power and provides fixed-ratio motion for industrial equipment that benefits from a direct, constant-speed shaft output.
The motor is designed for single-phase operation at 120 VAC and a mains frequency of 60 Hz. Under this supply, it draws a steady 1.1 A, and an external 12.5 µF phase-shift capacitor paired with a 150 Ω resistor balances the winding currents for smooth bidirectional commutation. The synchronous rotor locks rhythmically with the applied line cycles to yield a constant shaft speed of 72 RPM. At that rate, it delivers at least 700 oz-in of running torque, allowing it to start and carry sizable inertial loads without hunting. The torque margin suits indexing tables, augers, or other mechanisms that cannot tolerate speed drift when line voltage fluctuates. Rated load inertia up to 0.42 oz-in-s² can be accelerated directly without auxiliary gearing.
The body has a diameter of 4.23 in, which is compatible with typical NEMA 42 brackets, and a pilot diameter of 2.186 in that centers the mounting face. Four mounting holes lie on a 3.000 in bolt circle for direct fastening. The laminated stack extends the housing length to 6.99 in, while the bearing spacing helps keep shaft deflection within acceptable limits. The thrust bearings tolerate up to 50 lb of axial force, while radial side loading may reach 25 lb without exceeding the L10 bearing life. The total motor mass is 15.5 lb, allowing cantilever mounting without additional structural support.
