Internal Product Review
The SS452TEG4 is a Danaher Slo-Syn synchronous gearmotor that delivers 18 RPM output speed and 1,584 oz-in minimum output torque. Thermal capability is well suited for continuous industrial duty with a 40 °C maximum ambient temperature and 100 °C maximum case temperature. Shaft loading performance is especially appealing, with 150 lb radial load capacity and 100 lb axial load capacity.

Product Description:
The SS452TEG4 is a geared synchronous motor produced by Danaher within the Slo-Syn Synchronous Motors series. It couples a four-phase stator with a sealed gearhead to generate low-speed, constant-frequency rotation suitable for conveyors, rotary tables, and metering mechanisms. In automation cells it provides fixed-speed torque directly from the mains, removing the need for variable-frequency drives and simplifying open-loop control strategies. A 0.50-14 NPT conduit entry on the housing streamlines installation inside electrical panels.
When supplied with 240 VAC, the gearmotor delivers a synchronous shaft speed of 18 RPM at 60 Hz, produced by its internal reduction train. The output stage can supply up to 1,584 oz-in of continuous torque, while a minimum run torque of 450 oz-in defines the lowest load that maintains synchronous lock without stalling. Reflecting inertia back to the shaft must be limited to 77 lb-in² so the rotor can start and synchronize within one electrical cycle. Mechanical interface dimensions include a 2.875 ± 0.002 in pilot, a 3.875 in bolt circle, and 0.223 in mounting holes, allowing direct flange attachment to gearboxes or machine plates. The rear shaft provides 1.19 ± 0.04 in of engagement with a usable flat length of 1.00 ± 0.01 in for coupling hardware.
The motor is designed to support an axial thrust of 100 lb and a radial overhung load of 150 lb at the output bearing, accommodating sprockets or pulleys mounted directly on the shaft. Overall gearmotor length is 6.84 in, permitting placement in compact drive bays while still providing room for wiring bends behind the case. Continuous service is permissible in environments up to 40 °C, provided the external surface remains below the 100 °C case limit. These load, length, and temperature capabilities allow the unit to operate as a direct mechanical drive in indexing, mixing, and slow conveying stations.
