Product Description:
The SS452T is a synchronous stepping motor manufactured by Danaher as part of the Slo-Syn Synchronous Motors series. It is intended for applications that need precise, repeatable rotation at line frequency, such as feed rollers, metering pumps, and light material-handling stations. By locking its rotor to the applied sine wave, the motor delivers predictable angular displacement without requiring an encoder or feedback controller in straightforward automation tasks.
Electrical performance is based on a supply of 240 Vac. When energized by a single-phase 60 Hz circuit, the winding draws 0.3 A. Under that condition, the rotor advances at a synchronous rate of 72 rpm, while the motor provides a minimum dynamic torque of 450 oz-in for starting loads. The output shaft measures 0.375 in in diameter and provides a 1.00-inch usable flat to simplify clamp-style coupling. In 50 Hz service, the speed drops to 60 rpm, offering an alternate index rate with the same power wiring. Power leads terminate in a gasketed terminal box that mates with a 0.50-14 NPT conduit entry.
The motor’s cast face uses a 3.875-inch bolt circle with 0.223-inch mounting holes around a 2.875-inch pilot diameter. The overall package length is 5.65 in, allowing the frame to fit shallow gearboxes or brackets. Acceptable overhung forces include a radial load of 25 lb and an axial push or pull of 50 lb, so the shaft can support moderate belt tension or thrust couplings. Reflected inertia must remain below 0.31 oz-in-s² to preserve synchronous lock during acceleration. The mounting pattern supports secure attachment to a compatible machine face, while the pilot diameter helps maintain shaft alignment. Moderate belt-driven and thrust-coupled loads can be accommodated when the stated force and inertia limits are observed.
