The SS452G9 is a geared Slo-Syn synchronous motor manufactured by Danaher for machinery that requires very low speeds with predictable step positioning. The model integrates a permanent-magnet motor and a factory-mounted helical gear reducer within the Slo-Syn Synchronous Motors series. It converts mains power directly into incremental motion, so general automation equipment such as indexing tables, labeling heads, and inspection turntables can operate without separate feedback devices. Because the rotor locks to the line frequency, start-stop cycles remain repeatable for timing conveyors and valve actuators.
The motor is rated for 240 VAC, and when powered at 50 Hz, its output shaft turns at 6.667 rpm; the speed rises to 8 rpm with a 60 Hz power supply. This slow rotation is achieved through a 9:1 internal reduction that multiplies torque while keeping mechanical play limited. The gear train operates at 77% efficiency, so approximately three-quarters of the mechanical input power is delivered as output power at the final shaft. Input shaft lost motion is 43°, indicating the angular window in which torque is not yet transmitted and requiring consideration when the motor starts under load.
At the reducer output, the motor supplies at least 3,119 oz-in of torque and supports a maximum load inertia of 336 lb-in² at 60 Hz. Torsional accuracy is aided by output backlash limited to 2°, allowing indexing devices to locate repeatably. The shaft can accept axial forces up to 100 lb and radial forces up to 150 lb, supporting the direct mounting of cams, sprockets, or spur gears. A 0.500-inch-diameter shaft with a 1.00-inch usable flat provides the driving surface, while an overall length of 6.13 inches keeps the package compact for NEMA-frame installations using a 3.875-inch bolt circle.
