Product Description:
The SS452ETG5 synchronous motor is manufactured by Danaher as part of the Slo-Syn Synchronous Motors series. This geared model combines a permanent-magnet torque section with a fixed internal reducer, providing a single package that converts line frequency into controlled rotary motion. In automated fillers, small conveyors, or valve trains, it delivers the low-speed and high-holding characteristics required for position-locked cycles while remaining directly compatible with standard AC power supplies.
Operating from a single-phase supply of 240 V, the motor locks to the line cycle and passes it through a 5:1 gear train. This reduction limits the output shaft to 14.4 rpm when the source is 60 Hz and to 12 rpm on 50 Hz lines, simplifying encoder scaling and allowing direct coupling to feed screws. Because the gearbox multiplies torque, a minimum stall torque of 1,980 oz-in is available to start mechanisms with high inertial loads. The thermal design supports continuous service at ambient temperatures up to 40 °C. Operation above that temperature requires an adjusted duty cycle. The integral reducer adds only 1.19 in to the housing length, so the motor can fit existing frames without increasing the center distance between machine elements.
The mechanical interface supports predictable alignment and stable loading. The rotor and gearing present a reflected inertia of 121 lb-in², which can be considered when selecting suitable acceleration ramps. The front face carries a 3.875 in bolt circle with 0.223 in clearance holes, while a 2.875 in pilot aligns the housing with the mounting plate to within ±0.002 in. The shaft bearings accept up to 100 lb of axial force and 150 lb of radial overhung load, allowing pulleys or couplings to be installed without additional support. The output shaft projects at least 1.10 in, providing adequate key engagement. The rear end has a 1.19 in extension with a 1.00 in flat for an auxiliary encoder or handwheel.
