The SS452-1010 is a constant-speed synchronous motor built by Danaher for the Slo-Syn Synchronous Motors series. It is intended for machinery that needs precise stall holding and repeatable low-speed rotation, such as feed drives or timing conveyors in automated production lines. By locking its magnetic field to the line frequency, the motor produces a fixed shaft speed without requiring an electronic inverter. This operating method simplifies the power arrangement when the motor is installed in an industrial automation cabinet.
Electrical and dynamic output is based on a line supply of 240 VAC. When energized from a 50 Hz network, the shaft operates at 60 rpm, while a 60 Hz source raises the speed to 72 rpm. At either frequency, the rotor delivers a minimum running torque of 450 oz-in, providing the force needed to overcome friction in moderate indexing mechanisms. A maximum body diameter of 3.385 in keeps the frame compact enough to fit within small gearcases or mounting brackets. The motor can operate in ambient temperatures up to 40 °C without causing the insulation to overheat. Its constant-speed behavior makes it suitable for applications in which rotational timing must remain synchronized with the line frequency.
Thermal rise is limited by a maximum case temperature of 100 °C. The shaft can withstand an axial load of up to 50 lb and a radial load of up to 25 lb without damaging the bearings. The shaft extension measures 1.19 ± 0.04 in, providing sufficient reach for connection to the driven equipment. A usable flat measuring 1.00 ± 0.01 in supports secure engagement with a compatible hub, while the 2.875 ± 0.002 in pilot aligns the housing with a mating flange. Four mounting holes, each measuring 0.223 in in diameter, are positioned on a 3.875 in bolt circle to secure the motor to a drive plate and maintain concentric alignment during load cycles. The motor has a total weight of 6.5 lb, allowing manageable handling during assembly while providing adequate mass for stable continuous-duty operation.
