Product Description:
The SS451T is a synchronous motor produced by Danaher as a member of the Slo-Syn Synchronous Motors series. This single-phase unit is designed for industrial automation tasks that require constant low-speed rotation with precise timing. It operates as a self-starting, capacitor-run machine whose rotor stays locked to the stator’s rotating field, making it suitable for indexing tables, metering pumps, and conveyor pacing assemblies. An enclosed frame and conservative insulation system allow the motor to operate inside control cabinets alongside contactors without special ventilation requirements.
The motor connects through a terminal box machined with a 0.50-14 NPT conduit entry, which accommodates rigid metallic conduit and standard strain-relief fittings. It operates from a nominal supply of 120 V AC on a single-phase line at 60 Hz, and its steady-state current draw is 0.8 A. Wiring diagram C shows the lead pairing for forward rotation and capacitor attachment. Swapping the designated input leads reverses the direction while preserving synchronous speed. A minimum pull-in torque of 450 oz-in allows the unit to accelerate loads with up to 16 kg-cm² of reflected inertia without stalling during start-and-stop sequences.
During operation, the rotor locks to the stator field at 72 rpm, delivering constant output without external speed control. A capacitor rated for 250 V AC is required, and its capacitance of 14 µF provides the phase shift needed to balance current between the main and auxiliary windings. The motor frame withstands an axial shaft load of 50 lb and a radial shaft load of 25 lb, supporting belt tension or light thrust on screw drives. The housing measures 5.65 in in length, which provides a compact profile for installation in space-constrained machinery. Its total mass is 6.5 lb, allowing the motor to be mounted without heavy lifting equipment.
