Product Description:
The SS451LE is a synchronous stepper motor built by Danaher within the Slo-Syn Synchronous Motors series. This motor converts fixed-frequency mains power into controlled rotational motion for indexing tables, feeder drives, and other industrial automation stages that benefit from constant-speed positioning. Leads exit the housing through a cable set, simplifying field wiring and providing a direct connection to the single-phase power source.
The winding is rated for 120 Vac and draws a line current of 0.80 A from a single-phase source. The phase-shift network uses a 14 µF capacitor with a voltage rating of 250 Vac to produce the required quadrature angle at the standard 60 Hz utility frequency. Under these operating conditions, the rotor turns at a synchronous speed of 72 rpm. Rotor motion is transferred through a 0.3750 in shaft, while a secondary rear shaft accommodates feedback devices or manual handwheel attachments. The laminated stack, bearing supports, and end bells fit within an overall length of 4.32 in. The assembly has a mass of 6.5 lb, allowing direct flange mounting in compact enclosures without placing excessive weight on the supporting machine structure.
The motor provides a continuous running torque of 450 oz-in, allowing it to overcome frictional and process loads without stalling during normal operation. Rotor dynamics are influenced by a reflected inertia of 16 kg-cm², making the motor suitable for moderate-mass loads without excessive start-stop transients. The permitted axial load is 50 lb, supporting applications in which thrust acts along the shaft. The permitted radial load is 25 lb, allowing properly aligned pulley, gear, or direct-coupled arrangements that remain within the capacity of the bearing system. External feedback equipment can be attached to the rear shaft when the application requires supplemental speed or position monitoring.
