Product Description:
The SS451L is a single-speed synchronous motor built by Danaher for the Slo-Syn Synchronous Motors series. As a constant-speed AC motor, it synchronizes rotor rotation with the line frequency to provide predictable shaft motion for indexing tables, metering pumps, conveyor fixtures, and other automated equipment. The motor uses a capacitor network with its split-phase winding to develop pull-in torque without external drive electronics, making it suitable for fixed-speed machine functions. Its synchronous operation helps maintain a consistent shaft speed during moderate changes in the applied mechanical load.
The electrical section draws a line current of 0.80 A from a single-phase supply operating at 60 Hz. The motor has a rated input voltage of 120 VAC. Its auxiliary capacitor has a capacitance of 14 µF and requires a minimum rating of 250 VAC. With this electrical input, the rotor operates at a synchronous speed of 72 rpm. The motor provides a minimum torque of 450 oz-in to support startup and continuous movement in fixed-speed applications. A load inertia guideline of 5.5 lb-in² assists with the selection of compatible couplings and driven components. Keeping the connected inertia within this guideline helps the rotor reach synchronous speed without losing step with the supply frequency.
The unit withstands an axial thrust load of up to 50 lb and a radial side load of up to 25 lb. Mechanical attachment is provided by a 3.875-inch bolt circle with 0.223-inch mounting holes and a pilot diameter of 2.875 ± 0.002 inches. The shaft has a usable flat length of 1.00 ± 0.01 inches, providing a secure contact surface for a set screw. The housing measures 4.32 inches in length, allowing the motor to fit into compact equipment spaces while leaving room for the coupling and wiring. Factory lead wires extend at least 12 inches to support connections within the surrounding equipment. The pilot and mounting-hole arrangement maintain alignment between the motor shaft and the attached load, while the permitted thrust and side loads accommodate moderate belt tension or gear overhang.
