The SS241ETG4 is a gear-reduced synchronous motor produced by Danaher for the Slo-Syn Synchronous Motors series. As a constant-speed actuator, it converts 60 Hz utility power directly into incremental shaft motion and is typically coupled to indexing tables, conveyors, and process-metering equipment in industrial automation lines. Its integrated gearbox lowers the output speed while increasing the available torque, eliminating the need for an external reducer in compact machine layouts.
Rated for single-phase 120 VAC operation, the motor draws only 0.40 A of line current to energize its wound stator. An integral spur gearbox with a ratio of 4:1 reduces the rotor speed to a fixed output speed of 18 rpm. The gearbox increases the synchronous torque to a stall value of 845 oz-in at the drive shaft. Internal gearing operates with an efficiency of 88%, so most of the electrical power is converted into mechanical work rather than heat. The system accepts up to 35 lb-in² of reflected inertia from the connected load. The motor can hold its position firmly while energized, making closed-loop feedback unnecessary in many constant-speed applications.
The housing supports radial forces up to 150 lb and axial forces up to 100 lb, allowing belt tension or screw thrust to be applied without auxiliary bearings. Indexing accuracy is supported by an output backlash of 2°, which limits positional deviation during index stops and directional changes. The hardened output shaft is 0.500 inches in diameter and 1.79 inches long, providing sufficient engagement for direct couplings, pulleys, or other driven components. A rear auxiliary shaft measures 0.3750 inches in diameter and includes a 0.328-inch flat for attaching an encoder or manual adjustment device. Power leads terminate in a gasketed terminal box that shields the electrical connections from dust and oil in industrial environments.
