The SS241CT is a single-phase synchronous stepping motor manufactured by Danaher for the Slo-Syn Synchronous Motors series. Built for fixed-speed or incremental motion, it locks its rotor to the sinusoidal power waveform and supplies constant rotational output without an electronic drive. This operating characteristic makes the unit practical for timing feeders, labeling stations, and other devices where direct line operation simplifies wiring while providing repeatable positioning.
The stator is wound for 60 Hz utility power, and the five-tooth rotor design produces a synchronous speed of 72 rpm. When energized from a single-phase source of 120 VAC, the motor draws only 0.4 A, so modest branch-circuit protection is adequate. Its minimum continuous torque is 240 oz-in, providing reserve capacity to overcome friction in gearboxes or lead screws during steady-state operation. The mounting face has 0.223-inch clearance holes and a 2.875-inch pilot for concentric alignment with connected equipment. Its overall length is 5.48 inches, allowing installation in shallow cabinets and other confined machine spaces. Power enters through a 0.50-14 NPT threaded hub that accepts standard liquid-tight fittings and protects the single run capacitor used for phase splitting.
The rotor can withstand up to 50 lb of axial load and 25 lb of radial load, allowing the bearings to support moderate belt tension or thrust-collar forces.
