The SS150-P1 is a single-phase stepping synchronous motor produced by Danaher for the Slo-Syn Synchronous Motors series. Designed for open-loop positioning in packaging machines, small conveyors, and pick-and-place heads, the unit converts fixed-frequency mains power into precise incremental shaft motion without an electronic drive. An internal permanent-magnet rotor eliminates the need for brushes or encoder feedback, reducing routine maintenance while providing predictable torque for general industrial automation. Its NEMA-style frame supports installation in compatible fixtures without mechanical redesign. Electrical connections are made through standard lead wires for straightforward installation.
At the shaft, the motor provides a minimum running torque of 150 oz-in, which supports moderate indexing loads during operation. Under rated conditions, it draws 0.45 A from a single-phase source operating at 120 Vac. The internal winding is designed for a mains frequency of 60 Hz, resulting in a synchronous shaft speed of 72 rpm for direct, gearless motion. The motor has a body length of 4.74 in, a maximum body diameter of 4.23 inches, and a mounting bolt circle diameter of 3.000 inches. Its 8.0 lb frame provides sufficient mass for thermal stability while remaining manageable during installation. Because the stator has a single-phase winding, the electrical connection requires one hot conductor and one neutral conductor.
A series capacitor rated at 3.75 µF provides the phase shift required to generate starting torque. With a reflected load inertia of 0.062 oz-in-s², the rotor can accelerate quickly while limiting positioning overshoot. End-of-shaft loading is limited to a maximum axial thrust of 50 lb, while the maximum permitted radial side load is 25 lb. Keeping both loads within their respective limits helps prevent premature bearing wear. Thermal balance during continuous operation is supported by an external 25 W, 250-ohm damping resistor, which dissipates excess energy from the circuit.
