Product Description:
The KSL093T1Y is a constant-speed synchronous stepping motor produced by Danaher as part of its Slo-Syn Synchronous Motors series. In this motor family, the rotor locks magnetically to the applied line frequency, so the shaft turns at a fixed number of revolutions per minute without encoder feedback. This operating characteristic makes the unit suitable for material feed drives, labeling heads, and other automation points where repeatable low-speed motion must be maintained with minimal control circuitry. Mechanical energy is delivered through a keyed shaft, while electrical excitation comes directly from a capacitor-run, single-phase mains connection.
When powered from a single-phase supply of 120 VAC, the stator operates at a utility frequency of 60 Hz. The winding draws 1.00 A, placing limited demand on a compatible switching device or simple on-and-off relay. Because the electrical frequency remains fixed, the motor delivers a synchronous speed of 72 rpm, allowing it to serve as a direct timing element in indexers and light conveyors. Despite the low rotational speed, the frame supplies a minimum holding and running torque of 700 oz-in. This torque allows the motor to start and stop moderate inertial or frictional loads without stalling when the connected machinery remains within the applicable operating limits.
The shaft has a diameter of 0.5000 in and includes a 0.450 in ground flat that provides a secure contact surface for set screws without deforming attached couplings. Downstream machinery should keep reflected inertia below 13 lb-in² to use the motor’s acceleration capability effectively. The recommended run capacitor for proper phase shifting is rated at 11 µF. Dynamic damping can be improved by adding a 150 Ω series resistor capable of dissipating 100 W. The housing has an IP42 ingress protection rating, guarding the internal windings against contact by fingers and against vertically falling water drops. This protection supports installation in general-purpose indoor production equipment where the motor is not exposed to pressurized water, heavy spray, or complete dust sealing requirements.
