The KSL092T1Y synchronous stepping motor is built by Danaher as part of the Slo-Syn Synchronous Motors series. It is a single-phase unit intended for industrial automation stations that need steady low-speed motion without encoder feedback, such as timing conveyors or chemical dosing pumps. The motor works with an external 6 µF run capacitor and a 250 Ω, 50 W series resistor that shape its starting current and phase angle so it can reach pull-in torque quickly under full line voltage.
The stator is wound for 120 VAC operation, allowing direct connection to common control transformers, while the design synchronizes with the utility’s 60 Hz supply to maintain a fixed mechanical cadence. During continuous duty, the winding draws only 0.60 A, keeping panel heat rise minimal. The minimum delivered torque is 450 oz-in, which is sufficient to accelerate moderate loads without stalling at the rated speed. An IP42 enclosure protects the internal components from solid objects larger than 1 mm and dripping water when the housing is tilted up to 15 degrees. This protection makes the motor suitable for guarded cabinets or sheltered equipment areas. The single-phase configuration simplifies wiring because no separate drive electronics are required; the capacitor-resistor network completes the phase-shift circuit.
System inertia matching is supported up to 8.0 lb-in², allowing accurate step placement when the rotor shifts from one synchronous detent to the next. Operation remains stable at elevations as high as 30,000 ft, so pressurized enclosures are unnecessary for most airborne or high-altitude platforms. The shaft measures 0.3750 in in diameter and includes a 0.328 in flat to accept set-screw couplings. The total motor length is limited to 3.77 in, allowing installation in tight mounting spaces. At line frequency, the rotor spins at a constant 72 rpm, delivering predictable cycle times for indexing mechanisms over extended operating periods.
