The KSL091T2Y synchronous motor is supplied by Danaher within the Slo-Syn Synchronous Motors series. It is a low-speed, constant-speed actuator intended for indexing or timing tasks in industrial automation, where direct AC line operation simplifies the required drive electronics. By synchronizing rotor rotation with the line frequency, the unit delivers predictable motion without a feedback device. This operating method makes it suitable for conveyors, dosing wheels, and machine cams that require repeatable incremental movement at a constant speed.
With its rated supply of 240 VAC, the motor draws a steady current of 0.25 A, which limits cable heating and simplifies panel fuse selection. At 60 Hz, it turns at 72 rpm, while a 50 Hz supply produces a speed of 60 rpm. These operating speeds correspond to the synchronous relationship between the motor’s pole count and the line frequency. The shaft provides a minimum holding torque of 169 N·cm, allowing direct coupling to moderate loads without gear reduction. Reflected load inertia should be considered to prevent overshoot during operation. The applicable inertia is 12 kg·cm² when the motor operates at 60 Hz and 13 kg·cm² when it operates at 50 Hz.
A run capacitor rated at 1.5 µF is required for operation at 50 Hz, while a reduced capacitance of 1.0 µF is required at 60 Hz. Both capacitors must have a 370 VAC rating to withstand repetitive AC stress. Starting energy is limited by a series resistor of 900 Ω that dissipates 50 W during the acceleration interval. The IP42 enclosure prevents access with objects larger than 1 mm and provides protection against vertically dripping water when the enclosure is tilted by as much as 15 degrees. Limited ventilation remains available through the enclosure for operation in areas exposed only to minor dust and dripping water. The mechanical interface uses a shaft with a diameter of 0.3750 inches and a 0.328-inch flat, allowing a set-screw hub to seat securely.
