The KSL063T1Y is a synchronous stepping motor built by Danaher as part of the Slo-Syn Synchronous Motors series. This motor converts single-phase line power into precise, self-synchronous shaft rotation, making it suitable for indexing tables, conveyors, and metering devices in industrial automation. It operates at a rated voltage of 120 VAC and a supply frequency of 60 Hz, while its ±5% voltage tolerance helps the unit remain in step when plant power fluctuates.
Under nominal conditions, the winding draws 0.40 A, which sets the current capacity required for the upstream drive relay or solid-state switch. The shaft speed is fixed at 72 rpm, so each complete revolution takes approximately 0.833 seconds without requiring an external speed controller. The motor produces a minimum holding torque of 185 oz-in, allowing direct coupling to moderate load wheels or lead screws without gear reduction. Its IP42 enclosure provides limited protection against contact with fingers and vertically falling water drops, making the frame appropriate for sheltered indoor installations. A 5 µF run capacitor provides the necessary phase shift during operation. An external 400 Ω, 50 W resistor can be added for dynamic braking when the application requires quick stops.
The rotor’s reflected load should not exceed 4.0 lb-in² to maintain step accuracy during acceleration and deceleration. The motor supports up to 25 lb of axial thrust and 15 lb of radial belt or chain tension; operation within these limits helps prevent premature bearing wear. It can be installed at elevations up to 30,000 ft above sea level without derating, accommodating most airborne systems and high-altitude laboratory applications. The fixed synchronous speed supports repeatable motion in equipment that requires consistent timing between cycles. Direct operation from the designated AC supply also reduces the amount of external control equipment needed in the installation.
