The M061-LE08 is a hybrid stepping motor built by Danaher for the Slo-Syn Stepping Motors series. Its 60 mm square frame delivers incremental rotary motion that can be indexed by a drive without a feedback device. The motor targets material positioning, labeling, and light pick-and-place mechanisms where compact size and simple open-loop control are acceptable.
In bipolar parallel drive mode, the phase windings draw 5.4 A at a rated supply of 0.89 VDC. This low voltage results from a phase resistance of 0.16 ohm, allowing high-current pulses for rapid torque buildup. The electrical time constant is limited by the winding inductance of 0.64 mH, so current rises quickly and the rotor can follow high step rates without lag. Under these conditions, the motor produces a holding torque of 75 oz-in, providing secure static positioning against external disturbances. The rotor inertia is 0.0017 oz-in-s², and a residual torque of 1.0 oz-in counters microstep drift when power is removed. All eight conductors are brought out to the cable lead, allowing the windings to be connected in series or unipolar configurations.
When the same motor is wired in a unipolar configuration, each phase carries 3.8 A and receives a higher drive voltage of 1.3 VDC because the resistance rises to 0.33 ohm per energized half winding. The inductance remains 0.64 mH, so the speed-torque curve is similar at lower shaft power. The housing is rated for a maximum case temperature of 100 °C, permitting operation in heated enclosures as long as the surface temperature is monitored. The frame can sustain an overhung load of 15 lb and a thrust load of up to 25 lb on the 0.25-inch shaft before bearing life is affected. Installation clearances should accommodate the eight-lead bundle and the 0.60-inch-long shaft extension to keep couplings within the manufacturer’s limits.
