This two-phase hybrid unit converts digital pulse trains from a controller into precise incremental rotation for pick-and-place heads, indexing tables, and metering pumps used in industrial automation. Each electrical step creates a stable magnetic detent, so the shaft holds its position without an external feedback loop in many motion-control systems.
In bipolar series wiring mode, the motor draws 0.30 A per phase, a value that permits the use of compact microstep drives. The coil inductance of 150 mH slows the current rise, which improves low-speed smoothness, while a phase resistance of 45 ohms supports a nominal supply of 16 VDC for full torque. Electromagnetic coupling under these conditions yields a static holding torque of 75 oz-in. When power is removed, 1.0 oz-in of residual torque keeps the rotor aligned with the stator teeth. The laminated rotor has an inertia of 0.0017 oz-in-s², enabling rapid acceleration with minimal overshoot. The front bearings withstand a maximum overhung load of 15 lb, allowing small pulleys or gears to be mounted directly on the shaft.
