By coordinating motor power, fieldbus communication, and integrated safety, the module acts as the intermediary between a motion controller and the mechanical load. It enables deterministic positioning and speed regulation on packaging lines, robotic cells, and material-conveyance systems.
The power section accepts a three-phase mains input of 400 V and can deliver up to 50 A of continuous output current to the connected motor windings. An auxiliary logic rail of 24 V DC keeps the control electronics active down to the specified minimum of 19.2 V DC, so parameter data and fieldbus links remain intact during brief supply dips. Command and diagnostic traffic move over a fiber-optic bus wired in a closed-ring topology. Two Easybus ports allow neighboring amplifiers to be daisy-chained without external hubs. A single-character, seven-segment display provides immediate status information, while four dedicated error LEDs indicate overcurrent, overtemperature, and communication faults. Two rotary node-address switches provide local network identification, and the drive energizes three motor phases directly through its internal power stage.
Functional safety and service connections are grouped along the front terminal blocks. The amplifier provides two safety-stop inputs that cut the gate drive within microseconds and a five-pin brake connector for releasing or clamping motor brakes. Onboard diagnostics accept two temperature inputs, while six X11 and X12 terminals handle auxiliary signals. A dedicated 13-contact X32 interface routes encoder feedback and user I/O, minimizing the need for external breakout boards. The front-mounted arrangement keeps safety, brake, temperature, encoder, and auxiliary connections accessible within the control cabinet.
